While the new year is barely a few days old, it appears some vendors around Sydney are hoping to take advantage of the holiday period and auction off their homes in January.

The earliest property going under the hammer in the inner west, according to realestate.com.au, is a one-bedroom unit at 211/20 McGill St in Lewisham on January 19.

The first main day of auctions is forecast to be on February 2, with properties in Rodd Point, Annandale and Abbotsford all scheduled to go under the hammer.
